Why the smear campaign against Palin won't work.

When you see a blatant smear against Palin, what goes through your mind?  Being angry is a waste of time, and I'll tell you why.

Consider the spectrum of voters.  I don't call them Republican, Democrat and Independent.  I classify them as follows:

1. Die Hard Obama Supporters
These people will believe anything the media says about Palin. ANYTHING. Even the bikini shots, you know they've spammed everyone in their address book with those photo-shopped horrors!  They were never going to vote for McCain anyway, so it doesn't matter if Palin saves drowning puppies and creates a new Ozone. She doesn't have shot with these people.

2. Die Hard McCain Supporters
Just the opposite as above. These people believe everything said about Obama, and Palin can do no wrong. They were never going to vote for Obama, in their eyes McCain is the ONLY option. So smears are worthless here. Palin is a saint and McCain is a hero/statesman, and I'm not disputing that fact.

So what's left? The undecided voters, the people who were going to write someone in, and the people who weren't going to vote at all because "this country is going to hell in a handbasket anyway."

3. The Undecided
These people stump me.  If they haven't figured out who they're going to vote for by now, Houston, we have a problem. Obama and McCain are so polar-opposite that people on the fence simply cannot have been paying attention for the past two years.  If that's not the case, they they're peole who live politics and must know every facet of every issue.  In either case, they're either oblivious or issue-educated and smear campaigns have no sway power with this group.

4. The "Write Someone In" Crowd
Well, their vote was useless anyway. If you're going to make a point by writing someone in, that's a pretty weak point you're making.  After all, ballots are anonymous. What kind of statement is THAT?

5. The "Hell in a Handbasket" Folks
People who give that lame excuse are lazy. Nothing is going to light a fire under them, not even a good smear campaign.  They're staying home. What's going to get them out of their La-Z-Boys?  It has to be a strong nominee-specific issue like taxes or abortion, they have to be angry to vote.  Folks, we only have 60+ days left, if you haven't gotten mad enough by now....

Is that the end of the roll-call?  Not really.  Just before you hit die hard level, you have the people who are just dedicated because they "pretty much" agree with their candidate. So here's the final two:

6. The "Pretty Much" Obama Supporters
These people just like him. They don't feel like finding things not to like about him, and they don't feel like exploring the other side because they're comfortable where they are. Smear campaigns against Palin - doesn't matter. They weren't going to vote for her anyway.  The only way they'll budge is if Palin says something to catch their attention, perk their ears. They just might go the other direction...but Palin won't lose support because she never had it here.

7. The "Pretty Much" McCain Supporters
This is me. He wasn't my favorite candidate, but I'm more closely aligned with him than Obama and I'm not going to waste my vote on a write-in. Being a conservative, I'm used to smear campaigns because the media is liberal. All conservatives know this, and we're trained to ignore this garbage. So she won't lose votes, in fact, smear campaigns are generally a good compass for us, they point us in the opposite direction which only strengthens their targets.

The best thing about this?  Palin isn't budging. These campaigns don't bother her one bit, and we love that about her!

So sit tight Palin supporters!  When you hear this garbage and slander, just smile. Every bit of it strengthens the McCain/Palin ticket!

Are you KIDDING me?

Left-wing media states that if the country doesn't elect Barack Obama into presidency, we are clearly not ready for a black president. We are racist society.

So, now we're being bullied into voting for the unqualified now? Is this presidential race about the color of skin?  Well, apparently it is for some people.

Statistics show that black voters have turned out in record numbers to vote for Mr. Obama. Why?

Why didn't they (yes, I said "they") turn out in record numbers to vote for....oh....Dole? Are these "revived" voters so overwhelmed by Obama's promise of change that they decided that, 'Hey, I'm gonna exercise my right to to vote this year'?

Riiiight. I don't think so.

Let me say this - I am not a racist, I think it's a waste of time and energy. If you are a true Christian, you know that we are all created equally in God's eyes, and treating any human lesser because of appearance and genealogy is ignorant at it's best. It's disgusting. It's wrong. God frowns upon it. I promise, He does.

So let's turn that around. Heaven forbid we say that the voters, who have never voted before, are rushing to the poles to vote for Obama are (gasp) racist!  What kind of uninformed jackass, of ANY descent, votes for someone because they are of a "certain" color?

Yes, I understand that it is a pivotal and wonderful moment when a black or African American (whatever term you prefer) man is  moments from becoming the president of the greatest nation on the planet. It is a BIG deal, his accomplishments are paramount from the perspective of racial achievement....but a presidential election isn't about that. I'm sorry, it's just not about THAT. It's not about a man reaching new heights. It's about a person creating unity among the people so that we can work together, and that person's goal should be leading a nation into safety and progression.

So back up and look at the big picture. Quit drawing lines between Americans and dividing us by sex, by color, by religion, or whatever else you can think of.

Be responsible - research your options and make an educated vote.

Lack of Planning...

"Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

I think we've all seen that witty little statement hanging somewhere, whether it be in a co-worker's cubicle or the local gas station. We've all seen it....and we all smirk because, well, it's true!

I am a woman, and I claim full control over my body. God forbid that control should ever be taken from me by disease, by a predator, or any other unforseen circumstance.

I choose what I eat, I choose what pills I take. I choose what vehicle I put myself in, I choose how to cut my hair. I also chose to marry a man who would be an outstanding father.

So tell me, what is this business about "a woman's right to choose"?

First and foremost, I am NOT referring to a situation where a woman was raped. So please read on with that in mind:

A woman who finds herself pregnant when she doesn't not wish to be likely CHOSE to take her clothes off and have sex with a man who she did not wish to be attached to for the rest of her life. That was her CHOICE. She chose to have sex, knowing that 100% of pregnancies are caused by the happy engagement of sperm and egg. With or without birth control or protection, she is partaking in an activity that causes pregnancy.

No one is telling women they cannot choose. Pro-lifers aren't telling a woman they should not have the right to choose. The fact is, they did choose, and they chose poorly.  And an unwanted pregnancy is the consequence of those poor choices.

Abortion is not a backspace button that fixes an error. No matter how twisted the words become, or how clinical the procedure sounds, there is no arguing that abortion deletes the beating of a human heart. A heart that dwelt in the body of a child who lived in the body of an irresponsible woman who made a bad choice with an irresponsible man.

Maybe if we take the option of abortion off of the table for those who's casual sex resulted in human life, then those who lack planning skills will think twice about engaging in baby-making activities with unsuitable people.

Just an idea.
